How Blogging Can Help Your Business - Ways to Use Your Blog

Filed under: Web of Blogs @ 3:28 pm

As a business owner who likes to stay up-to-date on the latest marketing methods and technology, you probably already know how blogging can help your business. There are many benefits of having a company blog, and a great many business owners have already discovered the advantages that are to be had. But if you aren’t sure how to use your blog for your business, here are some ways that your blog can be used.

Customer relations are one use for a company blog. Opening up the lines of communication with your customers is the first step to excellent customer service - and you can learn a great deal from your customers. Print the URL for your blog on receipts, business cards, and brochures to build interest. You can also use your company blog to get customer feedback about your products or services. Again, you can learn a lot from your customers, and use the feedback to improve your products or services and give customers more of what they want in the future.

Company blogs are great research and development tools. You can ask your customers questions about what they want or need. Tell them what you have in development, and what it will do, and ask them how you can make it better. You can even run contests for your customers through your blog, offering the product in development as a prize to the person who comes up with the best idea.

Once you have developed new products or services, you can use a company blog to introduce your new product lines. Keep your customers up-to-date on what is developing or changing at your company. Past customers should be your first customers for your new products and services - and this will happen if they have had a positive experience with you in the past. A blog adds to that positive experience.

You can also use your company blog to teach customers how to use products or services. You can use the blog to answer technical support issues as well. Many companies turn their blogs into a series of how-to articles that are to be used primarily by their current customers. This method has also been found to increase interest - and sales - for products as well. People always want to know how to improve something in their lives, and you should use this need to your advantage!

You can drastically improve employee relations with a company blog. Your employees have private lives, and often, they have happy news that they want to tell the world. Allow them to tell their fellow co-workers their happy news on the blog. Some companies hire a person to maintain and up-date the company blog. People within the company contact the blogger with their news, and the blogger blogs it. This is a great way to boost moral at your place of employment. You can also use the company blog to keep employees up to date on projects, new products, training sessions, or company policy.

If you will be allowing your employees to add entries to the company blog, it is a good idea to implement a blogging policy. There is a great deal of controversy today about company censorship of blogs, so even if you don’t have a company blog, you might want to implement a policy concerning any mention of your company in personal blogs as well.

Real Estate Advice: Consider the Source

Filed under: Online Investment, Real Estate Parlor @ 10:27 pm

Everybody has one either in their family or in their circle of acquaintances: The all-knowing dispenser of unworthy or non-solicited advice. It’s true.

‘Uncle Phil’ is that person in our family. It seems U.P. (as we call him) carries advice on every subject with him wherever he goes.

Just the other day, the family was having a nice, Sunday picnic and the topic of real estate investing came up. And so did Uncle Phil’s ‘knowledge’ bank.

“The best real estate investing advice I ever got, he said, was to drive up to the front of the property, look at the other homes’ yards around it and search for the level of upkeep.”

All in all, I think Uncle Phil is probably right with that one.

My father has been a real estate investor for the better part of his professional career.

Every day we’d hear stories about the next big deal he was working on, or how he just missed out on the deal of a lifetime.

Growing up, all the real estate talk was as common as pundits in Washington. So it just seemed natural to follow in his footsteps.

After graduating college, my father gave me the best real estate investing advice I ever received: Son, when you’re putting a deal together, keep in mind your integrity. If there’s ever a doubt you’d be ashamed later at what you do, don’t do it.

That’s advice for life, not just real estate.

How Weblogs can Help Realtors

Filed under: Web of Blogs @ 8:54 am

What is a weblog, well simply put a weblog is a journal that is kept online. In it’s simplest form a weblog will have an article every day or week that says what the person is doing.

A great way the weblogs are now being utilised is as a marketing device that allows a person to market directly to their customer without the hassles of email or especially direct mail. Just off the top of my head I can tell you what kind of information can be included in these weblog articles: info on new market trends, personal achievements, buyer and seller success stories, personal stories to personalize yoou to youor public. How else can you do this? With a website you would have to update it often and a weblog is built for this so there is no hassle. With direct mail such as newsletters you would have a high cost to send and a time lag to customer seeing it where with a weblog it is instantly accessible and free to post, and finally with email newsletters you have to keep track of a list and if you sent to them every day you would run into trouble with keeping a good list when everyone is being buried by your emails and think of them as spam.

No matter where you are at with your online presence you can take advantage of the power of weblogs. If you have a web hosting package that includes a weblog , great. Otherwise if you would like to get a weblog you can get one for free at Blogger.

The next question is how to get the word out about your weblog. First of all each one of your posts is treated as an article and will be indexed by the search engines if it is good content. So make sure that your posts have great content. The next thing you can do is go to some of the indexes and let them know about your weblog. Try these ones first:

http://www.blogstreet.com
http://www.blogarama.com
http://www.blogcatalog.com
http://www.bloguniverse.com
http://www.lsblogs.com
http://www.bloghub.com
http://blogdigger.com
http://www.feeds4all.com
http://www.blogclicker.com
http://www.plazoo.com
http://www.blogsnow.com
http://www.blogtopsites.com
http://www.blogwise.com
http://www.pingmyblog.com
http://www.blogexplosion.com

The other two best ways to make your weblog popular is by sending the link to your email list and also link the weblog directly to your website. Offline methods are probably not the best but you also may have a newsletter, business cards and classified ads.

Good luck and happy blogging!

How to Write Effective Copy for Your Company’s Blog

Filed under: Web of Blogs @ 9:58 am

Weblogs, more commonly known as blogs, are spreading feverishly across the Internet. According to Robyn Aber of Cisco Systems Inc., about four million blogs populate the Web. Though most private individuals maintain blogs, many companies are beginning to launch company blogs to communicate and interact with their clients, customers, and the public.

How can you create a company blog that outshines and outlasts every other blog? And how do you hypnotize readers to keep coming back? This article provides tips to write effective, attention-arresting blog copy and shows how you can develop reader and customer loyalty.

1. WRITE CONVERSATIONALLY.

The most engaging blogs speak to their audience in a casual and conversational tone. A big benefit of a blog is its ability to speak to readers in a way that is personal, candid and straightforward. Write your blog the same way you’d speak to your audience, face to face. The personal element is almost always what attracts people and keeps them coming back to your blog.

Amy Joyce of the Washington Post says, “Web logs–or blogs–started as a way to talk about new technologies, vent about life and interact in a no-holds-barred forum. Since blogs became the next big thing, an increasing number of companies have come to see them as the next great public relations vehicle–a way for executives to show their casual, interactive side. But, of course, the executives do nothing of the sort. Their attempts at hip, guerrilla-style blogging are often pained–and painful.”

To avoid this pitfall, simply be yourself. The best blogs reveal the interests, opinions, and personality of the writer. Your perspective, personal and professional, is unique in all the world. Let it shine through, and your blog will automatically be one-of-a-kind. An interesting blog will bring back customers again and again and will generate priceless interest in your company.

2. TELL STORIES.

Readers want to know things they already don’t know about your company. They want to know what the products, services, people, challenges, and innovations in your organization are really like. If you give them a glimpse of the inner workings, express your opinions boldly, and tell engaging stories, you will foster reader interest and loyalty. In a biography, both interviews and quotations usually are the most intriguing parts. Think of your company blog as a business biography. Personalize it with your unique thoughts and perspective.

3. MAKE IT PERSONAL.

Write about what you know. Draw from your expertise to inform the public about the finer points of your business. Detailing development ideas, setbacks, successes, and reactions reveals the human element and engages the reader. It’s fine to talk about new products and innovations, but blogs devoted mostly to marketing and promotion are the most boring and least popular of company blogs. Make these topics more appealing to readers by framing such announcements with personal impressions and insights. Customers want to feel a kinship with the brand. Letting them in on the details of your business will make them feel part of your company culture and increase the chances of their lifetime loyalty.

4. UPDATE FREQUENTLY.

Once you have established a good reader base, offer new insights regularly to reward surfers for coming back. Not only does this provide more information and exposure, but it also reflects that your company is active and on top of things. Link to current articles from other sources to keep readers abreast of developments in your sector. A rarely-updated blog feels stale and tired. This is not the reputation you want your company to have!

5. ADHERE TO COMPANY RULES.

You are personally responsible for whatever material you publish on your company blog. Respect the confidentiality of your organization and employees. Though you may express disagreements or concerns, do not make personal attacks or use the blog to air petty complaints. Do not reveal proprietary information; and avoid discussing revenue, share price, or other financial statistics. Observe copyright law, and quote sources as you would in any other document. Make sure what you write in the company blog reflects the company’s goals. Keep in mind the ultimate goal of most company blogs is to increase visibility and promote the exchange of information. While most companies allow and encourage blogging on company time, you should avoid letting your writing time interfere with your regular workload.

6. WRITE GRAMMATICALLY.

Finally, make sure that what you write is grammatical. Your blog entries reflect your company, and you want to give the best possible impression of the organization and its personnel. The Internet is rife with bad English. Though blogs tend to be relaxed in tone, it is no more appropriate to ignore standard English than it is to wear flip-flops and swimming trunks on casual Friday. Use a program like StyleWriter ( http://www.StyleWriter-USA.com ) or White Smoke ( http://www.WhiteSmokeSoftware.com ) to find and fix embarrassing grammar mistakes and help you write like a pro.

A company blog is an excellent tool for promotion, communication, and information. The tips outlined here will help elevate your blog and generate traffic and interest. Good luck, and welcome to the wonderful world of blogging!

Gaming Laptops Turning into Household Gadgets

Filed under: Great Technology Tips @ 1:59 am

Laptops for gaming were once only for the wealthy and not for the majority of us. The shipments were not really amazing but they did generate great cash on each unit than others. Everyone wanted this kind of laptop, but at the price they were sold for it was basically unaffordable. They were basically desktop rivals and the highest performing, best laptop computer you could acquire. Laptops for gaming would get people thrilled about what’s to widely available in a couple of years but I do not think they would buy laptop computers like this whilst being aware the price is going to drop quickly. Well established manufacturers have lately released their own gaming laptops so its all changing as I say this.

I guess they would categorise it as a high grade item and make tons of cash on these particularly with their mass production facilities. It is definitely a great path to larger gross profits. In my point of view larger brands can apply leverage to convince potential purchasers to buy laptop computers regardless of cost. If I were a smaller system builder I would probably be thinking of plans to react to this type of competition. This one time premium technology is basically going to be directed at everyone now. People just feel tons more confident making a large purchase from a brand name.

I think they surely are manufacturing a couple of the best laptop computers out to buy. In my view the unknown retailers essentially pounce on this if they are to be profitable. I reckon people that get these kinds of systems like to be able to spec up their laptop. People that get high spec laptop computers will normally look past the pointless details. In a few cases the speed is far more important than the design for certain types of people. This is really good news from a customers position. As this pushes down the prices even more, premium technology will get even more affordable to the market. Though I say that, I’m not really assured with my predictions. New laptops are always being launched and that should hold costs relatively high. Competition always makes companies to create better products and provide greater value so that appears good.
