Another reason to love Nokia

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 2:26 am

Compared to other products by Nokia the N77 is boring. With this mobile handset Nokia have made something wich is well featured for the price. Like other comparable models from Nokia the design is quite cutting edge and would be appealing to a very wide range of users.

The ring-tones on the N77 are Polyphonic (64 channels), MP3 as well as a vibrating alert. The N77 is 114 g in weight. If colour matters you may like to know that this mobile phone is only available in Black. Compared to competitors handsets currently available the Nokia N77 is pretty compact, fitting nicely into the pocket. Moving on to the display the mobile handset is supplied with a 2.4 inch screen, which is a pretty average size display considering the alternatives for the cost of this phone. The screen is a TFT, 16M colors. Getting on to the all important battery duration the Nokia N77 has 4:30 talk time and 170 hours reserve charge. The Nokia N77 is supplied with a Li-Ion 1100 mAh (BP-6M) battery cell. The Nokia N77 has support for 2G GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 and 3G UMTS 2100. A 2 MP, 1600×1200 pixels, video(CIF), flash; secondary CIF video call is integrated into this mobile handset camera. For mobile Internet users as WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML browser is included. This handset is bluetooth enabled making it as easy as possible to integrate with devices, for example hands free sets. The N77 also features a few extras, for example, MP3/M4A/AAC/eAAC+/WMA player, Push to talk, Video calling, DVB-H TV broadcast receiver, Document viewer, Java MIDP 2.0, Integrated handsfree, Photo/video editor, Voice command/dial, PIM including calendar, to-do list and printing and Stereo FM radio.

Regrettably for Nokia the N77 has lots of competition making it relatively easy to pick up a great bargain on this phone. If you are looking for a really cheap deal, shop online where you can find many really cheap deals to select from. Shopping online will save you a lot of money, incredibly it is possible to get a mobile with free line rental , which will not cost you a penny.

What Direction Are Notebook Computers Headed In

Filed under: Great Technology Tips @ 12:38 am

Do all of us really need a laptop computer? It sure seems that way because demand is skyrocketing. Taiwan, which is the main manufacturing country of laptops is struggling with the demand at the moment. Despite credit crunches and other economic conditions laptop computer sales have increased year on year and it doesn’t seem to decline any time soon. It’s an industry which is also tough to keep up with it terms of technology because its shifting all the time.

More manufacturers are appreciating that gaming notebooks is becoming big enough niche to go after. With prices coming down and new technology being introduced rather quickly it means that purchasers are getting more value. I play games on my laptop on a regular basis and must say I’m surprised how playable few of the intense games are. Even more impressive these days I think is how slick the cases are getting especially when you think about much performance is in them. Sure one is not disagreeing that there is a performance gap between notebooks and desktop pcs in terms of gaming tasks however this should always remain. Gaming notebooks are the test of performance for the notebook business and it will be interesting to see how the next technology ranks.

I think demand for custom laptops will always be around. With custom built notebooks you typically get to discover what make of parts is going into the laptop. Defining what you want simply is the prime advantage. If you will be doing more intensive activities on your laptop then those premade units will probably not offer all the features and speed you desire. So clearly this is why you need a custom notebook computer. There are tons of system builders offering custom notebooks, with great customer service. I certainly think this is a major thing that goes in favour for purchasing a laptop thats made to .

Amazing is a word that comes to mind when thinking of the next line of laptop computers. One subject I haven’t touched upon is the growth of low cost ultramobiles. They have their divided sector in the laptop market in such a little space of time. Large screen and extrodinarily lightweight, that’s what everyone should embrace. If you employ slightly less potent parts then I figure this is really doable already. Guessing from whats going on it seems like we’ll start seeing ultra mobile gaming units. All the brands are looking to launch the next big noteboo so it’ll be interesting to see.

I’d recommend these if you’re in search of the best gaming laptops.

Passing The CCNA and CCNP Exams: Setup Mode

Filed under: Great Technology Tips @ 9:24 pm

CCNA and CCNP candidates need to know all about Setup Mode, why a router goes into that mode, and as you’ll see, how to get out of that mode. Practicing Setup Mode at work is a good way to get fired, though, so you need to practice this on your CCNA / CCNP home lab or rack rental. In this article, we’ll take a look at a Cisco 2500 router going into setup mode and a few tips that will help you pass the exams and excel at your job.

First, why does a router go into Setup Mode in the first place? When a Cisco router boots up, the router looks into Non-Volatile RAM (NVRAM) for the startup configuration file. If such a file is not found, and the router has not been programmed to look to a TFTP server for this file, the router enters setup mode.

The most common reason for a router not to have a startup configuration file is that the file’s been erased. We will now erase this file on our 2500 router. As you’ll see, the Cisco router warns us about erasing NVRAM and makes us confirm this choice, which it acknowledges with the OK message.

R1#write erase

Erasing the nvram filesystem will remove all files! Continue? [confirm]

[OK]

Erase of nvram: complete

R1#

The router will now be reloaded. There is a slightly misleading message displayed during reboot:

R1#reload

Proceed with reload? [confirm]

00:15:21: %SYS-5-RELOAD: Reload requested

System Bootstrap, Version 11.0(10c)XB1, PLATFORM SPECIFIC RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Copyright (c) 1986-1997 by cisco Systems

2500 processor with 14336 Kbytes of main memory

Notice: NVRAM invalid, possibly due to write erase.

That notice doesn’t mean the NVRAM is corrupt or unusable; this message means the NVRAM doesn’t have a startup configuration file.

The router will continue to boot and finally present you with this prompt:

— System Configuration Dialog —

Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:

Almost every WAN engineer I know answers “no” to this question, because Setup Mode is a long, clumsy way to set up a router (in my humble opinion). We will answer “yes” in order to see this mode in action.

— System Configuration Dialog —

Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]: y

At any point you may enter a question mark ‘?’ for help.

Use ctrl-c to abort configuration dialog at any prompt.

Default settings are in square brackets ‘[]’.

Basic management setup configures only enough connectivity
for management of the system, extended setup will ask you
to configure each interface on the system

Would you like to enter basic management setup? [yes/no]: y

Configuring global parameters:

Enter host name [Router]: R1

The enable secret is a password used to protect access to

privileged EXEC and configuration modes. This password, after

entered, becomes encrypted in the configuration.

Enter enable secret:

% No defaulting allowed

Enter enable secret:

Already, there’s something about Setup Mode that you might not like. This mode forces you to set an enable password and an enable secret password. As you continue in this mode, you’ll see this mode ask you questions about every single interface on the router, even if you’re not planning to use that interface. Using Setup Mode really does get quite old after a while, again in my opinion.

One of the most important things about Setup Mode is knowing how to get out of it without saving the configuration. One way is at the very end of this mode, where you can answer “no” to “Do you want to save this configuration?” I personally never make it that far! Instead of waiting until the end of Setup Mode, we can use the CTRL-C key combination to abort this mode and ignore the changes.

Configuration aborted, no changes made.

Press RETURN to get started!

Setup Mode is not a mode that CCNA and CCNP candidates get a great deal of practice with, but you will be tested on your knowledge about it both in the exam room and on the job. And once you start configuring a router with this mode, you’ll be glad you know how to get out of it!

Is Click Fraud Really a Problem?

Filed under: Public Relations @ 4:58 pm

Click fraud is currently a major topic in online advertising. Many argue that it presents a threat to the stability and viability of pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, the key revenue generator for both Google and Overture. In actuality, click fraud is not a significant issue at all.

Click fraud occurs when ads are clicked for reasons other than a genuine interest in learning more about the product or service advertised. Click fraud occurs in two forms. In one instance, fraud arises from competitors trying to sabotage each other. One competitor clicks on the ads of another just to drain the budget of that company. The other instance occurs when webmasters (or people associated with the webmaster) repeatedly click Google AdSense ads (which are syndications of others’ ads) on their own web pages in order to generate more revenue. While both Overture and Google have developed sophisticated technologies to detect click fraud, their systems are, and may never be, foolproof.

The real question is how much does click fraud actually damage the PPC industry? Gross fraud, i.e., when one person or technology consistently and repeatedly clicks on an ad, aside, which Overture and Google can easily detect, we believe that click fraud has no real impact on the industry. The following explains why.

Efficient market theory says that it is impossible to “beat a market” because prices already incorporate and reflect all relevant information. As the PPC industry has matured, efficiency has begun to take root. That is, the price of each keyword has been driven up to the point where it reflects the highest price an advertiser is willing to pay for a click.

For instance, a book retailer may pay $1.00 per click based on internal metrics. These metrics dictate, for example, that on average 30% of clickers purchase a book and the average profit per sale is $4.00. So, for every 100 clicks ($100 cost), they make 30 sales ($120 revenue) and generate a $20.00 (20%) profit. Note that years ago, the same retailer may have been able to pay only $0.50 per click, but as the market matured and more retailers began advertising, competitive bidding forced the price up to $1.00 where the highest return the most advertisers can make is 20%.

The key point is that click fraud is already taken into effect when advertisers select the highest amount they will bid. For instance, there is no difference whether an advertiser pays $0.83/click for 121 clicks with 21 being fraudulent, or $1.00/click for 100 clicks when there is absolutely no fraud. In either case, the advertiser pays $100 and generates a profit of $20, and Overture and/or Google make $100. What changes is the advertiser’s yield (e.g., the percent of clickers who purchased the book) which in turn effects their highest bid price. That is, with fraud, 30 out of 121 clickers (24.8%) purchased the book, and without fraud 30 out of 100 clickers (30%) purchased it. Without fraud, the bid price in an efficient market will rise from $0.83 to $1.00.

In summary, online advertisers must focus on analyzing and improving their internal metrics (e.g., conversions) and not worry about click fraud as it is already incorporated into keyword bid prices. Hopefully, the frivolous lawsuits and refund requests spawned by apparent click fraud will end as those in the industry recognize this undeniable fact.

Self Employed Health Insurance - Tips For Getting Cheap Health Insurance When You’re Self Employed

Filed under: School of Insurance @ 11:23 am

If you’re self-employed and facing high health insurance bills, there are a number of things you can do to make your health insurance premiums cheaper once you find a good health insurance plan. Some involve opting out of certain coverage, others mean increasing the amount you’ll pay out of pocket for expenses. There are also discount health plans that you can join which will offer you cheaper fees for the services that you use. All involve taking on some of the risk for insuring yourself onto your own shoulders.

Eliminate Coverage for Routine Office Visits for Cheaper Premiums - If you’re healthy, have few prescriptions and no children, a catastrophic health insurance policy can be all the coverage that you need. The premiums to cover you just in the event of an accident or unexpected illness are among the cheapest you’ll find - well under $100 a month for an individual. Shop online for the best rates you can find. In many cases, you can apply online and be insured within 24 hours.

Increase Your Deductible to Save On Premiums - A deductible is the amount of money you’ll pay out of pocket before your insurance company takes over payments on your bill. If your health insurance plan includes a deductible (not a co-payment), you can often make your monthly premiums cheaper by increasing the amount of your deductible. While you’ll pay more out of pocket if something does happen, it’s far more affordable than going without health insurance because you can’t afford to pay the monthly premium.

Pay Your Premium Annually for Big Discounts - If overall savings are your goal, you can often get the cheapest rate on your health insurance by paying for the full year at one time. Most health insurance companies will substantially discount your health insurance premium if you pay it all at once.

Open a Medical Savings Account - MSA’s are the government’s way of helping to make health care more affordable for people who work for themselves or in a small business. A Medical Savings Account allows you to put a certain amount of your earnings into a tax-deferred savings account to cover the cost of medical expenses. By combining this with a cheap high deductible insurance policy, you pay fewer taxes on your MSA earnings, and use them to pay the deductible on your health insurances if it becomes necessary.

Take Your Health Insurance Deduction - When you file your taxes, be sure to take your health insurance deduction. Even if you don’t itemize all expenses, you can deduct up to 70% of your health insurance costs from your income when you file your taxes.

Marketing Without Advertising - Business Turnaround

Filed under: Marketing Hall @ 11:00 pm

Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends. -Walt Disney

SHAKESPEARE was right. The world is a stage and if you’re in Customer Service, you are the one performing.

So you think Customer Service is strictly business.

Think again!

Your customer already knows your price. It’s on the Internet. She expects quality to be included at no extra charge. She knows amazing customer service when she sees it and frankly, she thinks yours will fall somewhere between “mediocre and atrocious.”

Today’s Customer demands quality, service and price to be already in place. That’s the benchmark, the bare minimum, the entry level and if you don’t meet that standard from the very beginning, you will constantly be struggling to keep up with those who are perceptive enough to embrace this fact.

SHOWING YOUR ACE

An auto dealer took out a full-page advertisement and printed the testimonial of a satisfied customer as the headline for the ad. It simply read, “It was the best buying experience I ever had.” That was it. She didn’t say, “It was the cheapest deal in town.” Nor, did she give praises about the wonderful features of the new vehicle. She didn’t even mention the model she purchased. She simply said it was the best buying experience she ever had.

Most customers are exactly like her. They are grading the Personal Experience Factor (PEF) when they conduct business with you. Today’s customer is accustomed to being entertained and they are looking to you to provide an Amazing Customer Experience (ACE).

IT’S NOT THE BIG MAC ®
You’ve probably seen the McDonalds’ commercials that play to our focus on family values. The camera drops in on an average family, Mom and Dad with their young children, gathered around red plastic tables for some good old-fashioned family fun. They are all laughing and enjoying their “Happy Meals.” If you blink, you might miss the five-seconds of footage highlighting the burgers and fries.

Of course, in the “real world,” if the camera dropped in on my family, the kids wouldn’t even be at the table. They’d be in Play Land and their mom would be shouting, “Get over here and eat your chicken nuggets before they get cold!” And if the children did happen to be sitting at the table, they would be yelling stuff like, “Mom, he’s touching my fries,” or “Ooh, yuck, it has onions on it!”

But, the point is, it’s not the Big Mac® bringing them in; it’s quality of the overall PEF. The message is, if you want to have a fun night with the family, take them to McDonalds. The food is secondary.

The restaurant and automobile industry aren’t the only ones improving the PEF to sell their product. While Amazon may be the world’s largest online bookstore - and by the way, Amazon excels at customer service - the brick and mortar bookstores continue to grow. They offer elaborate settings reminiscent of stylish libraries of the rich and famous. Their interiors, filled with overstuffed chairs and the smell of freshly brewed coffee, invite customers to relax and browse before making their purchase. The bookstores offer something the Internet hasn’t yet mastered - an Amazing Customer Experience.

If you want to remain relevant in the twenty-first century, you too, need to show your customers an ACE.

TURNAROUND TIP: Your goal is to make your customer happier after doing business with you than before. Get together with all of your associates and brainstorm some ideas you can use at your business to turn a transaction with your company into an Amazing Customer Experience. Below are some suggestions for jump-starting your brainstorming session.
Engage your customer’s senses. What’s the first thing a customer sees upon entering your store? What’s the first scent a customer experiences when walking into your business? Is it the smell of burnt coffee, mildew, or an overflowing trash container?

Pay attention to appearances, fragrances and sounds. I know a realtor who lights a vanilla candle in the kitchen of the house she’s about to show, twenty minutes before her appointment arrives. She says it creates an inviting scent that engages the customer’s imagination by suggesting the aroma of home-cooking and fresh baked goods.

There are several simple things you can do to enhance your environment. Buy an automatic air-freshener. Brew fresh coffee. Light a candle. Take out the trash.

Offer an interactive experience. REI, a retailer who specializes in recreation gear, has simulated outdoor settings - such as a “Rain Room,” a climbing rock and bike trail - that are testing stations where members can try out gear before they buy. Golfsmith superstores have practice ranges, classes in custom clubmaking, putting courses and computer analysis of your golf swing. Think of some industry-related interactive ideas for your business and customers will think of you first, when it’s time to buy the service or product you sell.

Provide entertainment. Do-It-Yourself centers hold “How-to” demonstrations on everything from how to hang wallpaper to proper paint selection. Barnes and Noble and Borders bookstores provide musical events and feature best-selling authors who lecture and sign books. Here’s an inexpensive way you can provide entertainment at your business. Buy a combination TV/VCR and play product videos or other programs your customers would enjoy.

Create your own Amazing Customer Experience. Be open to new ideas and evaluate the PEF at other businesses outside of your industry.

Remember to look at your business from the customer’s point of view. It’s still a personal business. People buy from people they like who work at places they enjoy going. Create an Amazing Customer Experience at your business and soon your customers will tell others, “It was the best buying experience I ever had!”

The Importance Of Developing A Training Program For Your Company

Filed under: Management Info @ 7:24 pm

It is important for companies to develop a good training program to keep their staff motivated. Training may cover a wide range of reasons from new-hire training about your operation, to introducing a new concept to a workgroup to bringing in a new computer system.

Whatever the reason for conducting a training session, it is a must that a comprehensive, ongoing and consistent training program be developed in order to keep your staff motivated about learning new concepts and keeping your department profitable.

A formal new-hire training program, with an overview of the job expectations and performance skills needed to perform the job functions, is an essential part of a complete training program.

A new-hire training program provides essential knowledge and understanding of the position and how the position fits within the organizational structure. The new associate will better understand their impact on the organization if he or she has good background knowledge of how one workgroup interrelates with ancillary departments.

A good and reliable new-hire training program starts with the creation of a sound and comprehensive training manual. A manager or supervisor must keep the associate in mind while writing the training manual.

It is also important that it is interesting so the associate will actually read it. It is highly advisable to use graphics and to deviate from normal “corporate” language. In computer training, it is essential to incorporate a visual image of a computer screen to illustrate a function.

A good training manual must act as a building block of practical and technical skills needed to prepare the new individual for his or her position.

A manager or supervisor must ensure the department manuals are kept current in order for the department to understand current policies and procedures. It must also include any system enhancements and/or change in policy or procedure.

On the Job Training or OJT is another form of a new-hire training program wherein a potential associate trains directly next to an existing associate. OJTs allow the new associate to see first hand the different facets of the position.

Through an OJT, the new-hire will have the opportunity to develop a working relationship with an existing associate. Concepts learned in the initial training are reinforced through OJTs.

Continuing education is another aspect of a comprehensive training program. In fact, a good training program should make it an ongoing responsibility of the associate in a department. Continuing education will keep all staff members current about policies, procedures and the technology used in the department.

Studies have shown that associates will only retain approximately 40 percent of the information learned in the initial training session.

That’s why a continuing education program for a department is just as important as the new-hire training. A continuous effort, either formal or informal, must be placed on reminding the staff about various procedures and concepts.

Common practice on informing associates about the need for continuing education often includes a member of management sending a memo to each associate.

Another, more informal way is to send a one-page information sheet to staff. The information sheet, called a training alert, should be informative and presented in a non-threatening manner. If the policy or procedure changes, therefore, the informal approach would better prepare the department to receive this presentation.

With a new-hire and continuous education as part of your company’s training program, you could be sure that your associates will grow well in your company.

Location, Location, Location

Filed under: Real Estate Parlor @ 9:31 pm

While it’s easy to get carried away with the excitement of buying a home, it’s important you don’t rush into it without first considering whether the property you’re interested in is in a location that will suit you.

For most of us, buying a home is the biggest investment we’ll ever make so it’s very important that we get it right first time. You can’t take a house back if it ‘doesn’t fit’, after all.

The first you should do is decide on when buying a home is the general neighbourhood you’d like to live in, bearing in mind that the better and more desirable an area is, the more expensive property will be.

You may find that you’ll be able to afford a larger property by choosing a different neighbourhood, although ultimately it’s the location of the property as well as the actual property itself that makes a house a home.

Once you’ve decided on the area, contact as many local estate agents as possible and ask them to forward details of suitable properties. Once these have been received, it’s time to start looking at them individually.

Take an afternoon and drive around the area, looking at each property from the outside. The estate agent doesn’t need to be involved at all at this point, it’s merely an elimination process.

Look at the following:

* Is there enough parking space?

* Where is the nearest public transport link?

* Is it far to the shops? What kind of shops are there?

* Are there any other amenities that are important to you? Park? Health centre?

* What do the neighbouring houses look like? Are they well cared for? If they’re unkempt and likely to fall into disrepair they’ll ultimately bring down the value of your property.

* If you have children, or plan to have them, will walking to school be safe for them?

One way of getting a feel for the neighbourhood where you’re thinking of buying a home is to spend an hour or so in the local pub. What kind of people frequent it? Are they friendly? Do you feel a connection with them?

Go into local shops and chat with the shopkeepers. Tell them you’re thinking of buying a home and ask them what they feel about the area.

Don’t feel that you have to make a decision immediately. Take your time and think about what you’ve experienced. Is this really where you want to spend the next chapter of your life?

If the answer’s yes, congratulations. If the answer’s no then it’s back to the drawing board. But don’t worry, your house is out there waiting for you. Just need to take your time and eventually you’ll find it. Just make sure you stay positive and remember that buying a home should be fun.
